Gas adsorption in MOFs

Tool implemented for gas adsorption analysis of various porous MOF materials synthesized by another project partner.

Capable of static or dynamic analysis with various possible gases.

CEA Marcoule

Platform manager: Michael CARBONI

Associated targeted project coordinator: Christian SERRE

  • Experimental set-up for analyzing gas absorption by porous materials.
  • The materials are shaped and introduced into a thermostated column for dynamic gas analysis.
  • At the exit of the column, a gas detector (mass analyzer) is used to obtain the breakthrough curve and adsorption properties of these materials, in dynamic mode.
  • The gases of interest in air, nitrogen or helium are NO, NO2, N2O, CO, CO2, CH4, Ar, Kr, Xe, H2
  • Gas adsorption analyses on powder, BET analysis (Micromeritcs tristar and asap 2020), are used to obtain the specific surface area, pore volume and pore diameter of these materials.
