5-axis additive and subtractive manufacturing frame, instrumented for AI and high precision
Description
This AEROTECH brand 5-axis frame is equipped for additive manufacturing (robocasting-type micro-extrusion) and for subtractive manufacturing by micro-machining in raw materials (compact ceramic granules). Note that the cutters used for micromachining have diameters typically of 100 microns but can go down to 50 microns.
The frame is instrumented with a video acquisition system, a high-resolution 3D scanner and an IR fiber laser vibrometer also of high precision. Instrumentation is used (work in progress and acquisition of certain instruments in progress as well) to operate the closed loop system (AI allowing the manufacturing parameters to be automatically calibrated to optimize the quality of the parts.

Technical characteristics
- AEROTECH 5-axis frame with 3 translation axes and 2 rotation axes.
- Repositioning precision in 5 axes of the order of a few microns over the entire useful volume depending on the on-board manufacturing tools. On a local scale, steps of 100 nm are possible.
- High resolution POLYTEC vibrometer with fiber IR laser – acquisition frequency up to 24 MHz – Note that the frame can also be used for mapping with the vibrometer.
- High resolution POLYTEC vibrometer with fiber IR laser – acquisition frequency up to 24 MHz – Note that the frame can also be used for mapping with the vibrometer.
- High resolution 3D scanner:
